April 15, 1989

Very strange to think that it's been 20 years... My most vivid memory of watching the coverage of that thing on television was seeing the fans (of both teams) ripping down the pitchside advertising hoardings to make stretchers.

R.I.P. the 96.

The video is beautiful... I had forgotten how moving it was to see the people lifted up from below. What an awful, awful day.

There was a very good interview with the guy who did the reporting of the match on BBC yesterday, and lots of emphasis on the moments where he said "This is not cause by fighting between fans, people who are saying that are wrong".

Other reporting does make one hate the Sun though.

Yes, The Sun was pretty "special" in the wake of the disaster; they completely misread the public's willingness to go accept any gutter-press-type coverage of the disaster.
